So I know it’s only September but tonight is the first in my series of Halloween pictorials. I only managed to do one Halloween post lastyear but this year I plan on doing quite a few pictorials. I have been asking on Facebook and Twitter what characters people would like to see done. One of the first ones I had requested was Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas. Thanks Rachel for the request!
Also I just want to say thanks to my best friend Grace for been a model for this pictorial. The poor girl had to sit there patiently while I painted her blue! So thanks a million Grace!
Step 1: Start out with a clean, bear face
Step 2: Cover your eyebrows with a glue stick like Pritt Stick. To see how to do this check out this video tutorial.
Step 3: Paint your face blue. For this I used a blue lip tar and white foundation mixed together but I would recommend a good face paint. I had to do two to three layers to get this level of coverage.
Step 4: Cover the whole eye in white from just above the eyebrow to just below the lower lash line in a circle or oval shape. I used a white NYX eyeshadow base but again I’d recommend using good white face paint. What I don’t do here but do at a later stage is line the upper and lower waterline with white eyeliner and coat your lashes in a white mascara or cream base.
Step 5: Use a slightly dark blue eyeshadow to create a shadow the whole way around the white. Also place a small bit on the top of your nose and all the way around your chin to create a rounder looking appearance.
Step 6: Using black gel waterproof eyeliner, line out an eye shape and then a top line to mimic a fake eyelid crease as seen in the picture. Also paint on two round black circles for pupils of the eyes.
Step 7: Using thick strip lashes, cut them up into a few different sections. Then glue them to the false lash line like in the picture. You will need to use a lot of lashes to give this full appearance. In this picture I actually used two sets of false lashes of the same type.
Step 8: Use black gel eyeliner to create some stitched seams because Sally is a ragdoll. Simply draw a black line and then use a series of dashes and crosses to create that stitched look. Sally has these over her right eye, along both sides of her mouth, across her neck and in a cross on her chest.
Step 9: Line the lips using black eyeliner creating a very pointed cupids bow. Fade this in towards the centre of the mouth. Then apply a red lipstick in the centre to give a two-toned lip look.
Finally touch up any patchy bits, add your red wig and costume and you’re done! I’m super happy with how this look turned out. I love Nightmare Before Christmas so really wanted this to look right. Let me know what you think and if you have any requests for some more pictorials in the comments below.
Bye for now,
