So I don’t usually do haul posts but I just had to show you all what I got in the recent Illamasqua 50% sale. I am just so excited I had to share it with you.
Just a bit of a disclaimer to start with first. I had some major issues with customer services in terms of items been missing and not replying to emails. However when I went to Twitter to complain, the founder of Illamasqua Julian Mark Kynaston, replied to my tweet saying he would solve the issue immediately. Which he did and I got a response and solution within 20 minutes. Plus he emailed me to apologise and to ask about my experience and offered me two free products of my choice as an apology. Now that to me is someone who really cares about his business and his customers. So just so I am clear, two of these products I did not pay for because of this, but everything else were paid for by me! Now, onto the most important thing: the pretty makeup!
One of the first things I knew I had to have was the Skin Base Foundation in 01. This is a pure white foundation that can be used on its own, as a highlighter or mixed in with other foundations to lighten them. I bought this specifically for my kit. I have used it a few times and so far I really like it. The next Skin Base Foundation I got was for myself and is in the shade 06. It is a yellow undertone with some pink, so perfect for neutral skin tones, like me. However I think it might be a touch too dark for me. I’m still yet to use it so I will have a full review up shortly.
Next up is the Satin Primer. This face primer is for dry to combination skin tones. It contains UVA and UVB filters so perfect for daytime. I have use it once and found it has a slight iridescent like finish to it. I found it leaves a lovely dewy finish to the skin. I have to use it more to gauge how long-lasting it is and how it wears on the skin throughout the day.
So one of the products I was most curious about getting is the new Hydra Veil. This is another primer but is completely different to the Satin Primer. It comes in a pot with a little scoop for the product.
It has a jelly like texture but without been silicone based. In fact it is water based and it supposed to be very hydrating. Almost like a moisturiser and primer in one. I have yet to try this product out but I can’t wait to! I will definitely have a full and thorough review on this as soon as I can.
Next is a Concealer in shade 130. This is a creamy concealer and looks perfect for covering blemishes. It blends well onto the skin but I need to use it more to get an idea of how good it is in terms of longevity, coverage etc. This shade is far too dark for me, which I expected, so I will be keeping this for use in my kit.
Now we have one of my favourites of the bunch and that is Gleam in Aurora. This cream compact is a gorgeous champagne colour with an iridescent pearl like finish.
It is a cream highlighter and just looks amazing on the skin. The champagne colour means it’s perfect for paler skin tones too. I cannot wait to get to use this more!
Next is a Cream Pigment in the shade Hollow. I got this for one specific reason and that is for contouring. It is a toffee coloured cream that is supposed to be the perfect contour colour for pale skin tones. I am actually quite surprised by the colour of this because it looked far more grey toned in the picture on the Illamasqua site. However it does look like a good contour colour. I will update you all with a review shortly.
Last product I got was a Pure Pigment in Furore. The minute I swatched this I think I fell in love. It is a peach champagne colour that lies somewhere between a metallic and frost finish. It contains hints of copper, gold and silver shimmer that is just beautiful. This is a multipurpose product that can be used as a highlighter, as a light dusting of colour on the lids or used wet for a more intense eye look. I think I am going to get a lot of use out of this beautiful shade!
So that’s it for today! Sorry for the super long post but I was very excited to share my purchases with you. I will be doing more thorough reviews on most of the products listed but if there is one in particular you would like to see, please let me know in the comments down below. The product with the most requests will be reviewed first!
Bye for now,
