Estée Lauder Mad Men Color Collection

Estee Lauder Mad Men Color Collection

So today’s post is about something luxurious and beautiful. Estée Lauder has teamed up with the cult hit TV show Mad Men for the second year in a row and has created a Limited Edition Mad Men Color Collection. The collection consists of three products: See Thru Blush in Light Show, Rich, Rich Lipstick in Pinkadelic and Nail Lacquer in Pink Paisley and launched in Ireland on March 4th. To celebrate the launch of the collection Estée Lauder’s International Makeup Artist Alan Pan has come to Ireland to do some in-store makeovers and masterclasses. I was invited along to attend one of these masterclasses.

Skincare heaven!

So before we even started to look at the Man Men Color Collection, Alan went through the five steps of makeup application according to Estée Lauder herself. Step one was skin preparation. This step, according to Alan, is the most important part of your beauty routine. The skin preparation included cleansing, toning, using the Re-Nutriv Softening Lotion and moisturising. Moisturising involved using the all famous Advanced Night Repair Concentrate, Re-Nutriv Ultimate Lift Age-Correcting Serum and Re-Nutriv Intensive Age-Renewal Crème. But Alan didn’t even stop there. Then you need to prep the eyes and to do this Alan used the brand new Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum and Re-Nutriv Intensive Age-Renewal Eye Cream. That is seven products in total. But boy did my skin feel soft and supple afterwards.

Then we moved onto foundation. Estée Lauder’s last four steps to makeup application are flawless base, conceal, set and colour. A good trick Alan showed me was adding a drop of the Advanced Night Repair Serum into the foundation and mixing it together. This really helped the foundation glide on and just gave the loveliest finish to the skin. After concealing and powdering, Alan then applied another few drops of the Re-Nutriv Ultimate Life Age-Correcting Serum under my eyes and along the tops of my cheekbones. I have to say I have never seen a makeup artist apply a serum after powder and foundation but it really added the most amazing glow to my cheeks. That’s another of Alan’s tricks! Then a bit of mascara, eyeliner and eyebrow pencil and I was nearly done. To finish the look the gorgeous lipstick and blush from the Mad Men collection was applied. Check out the finished look.

Isn’t it all dewy and glowy?! I have to say I loved the look. And I love the Mad Men Color Collection. The vibrant paisley design on the products was actually originally designed by Estée Lauder back in the sixties and is been brought back for this collection. The blush compact especially is just divine. But besides gorgeous packaging the products themselves are stunning.

See Thru Blush in Light Show

The See Thru Blush in Light Show (€58) is the most beautiful and buildable pink colour that leaves a lovely satin finish on the skin. You can apply a light layer for a subtle look but it can be built up for a more intense look. Also have I mentioned how sunning the packaging is?!

Rich,Rich Lipstick in Pinkadelic

Swatched: Pinkadelic (L) and Light Show (R)

Rich, Rich Lipstick in Pinkadelic (€30) is a stunning light pink colour with a satin to glossy finish. The lipstick, like the blush, can be applied sheer for a hint of colour but is also buildable for a more full on pink lip. The formula is very moisturising on the lips and is surprisingly long lasting. I got a good four hours out of the lipstick and that included eating dinner. It wears nicely and leaves a lovely stain on the lips.

Nail Lacquer in Pink Paisley

Lastly is the Nail Lacquer in Pink Paisley (€27). This nail polish is the perfect baby pink colour and is just really pretty. It applies nicely and needs two coats for full coverage. I have to say I didn’t think much of this in the bottle but absolutely fell in love with it as soon as I swatched it on my nail. It’s a really wearable and pretty colour.

Alan Pan and Me

So that’s all for today’s post. I really enjoyed going along and meeting Alan. Both he and the girls at the Estée Lauder counter were lovely and so kind. I loved learning a few little tricks off Alan and getting to share them with all my lovely readers. However if you want to go along and meet Alan, you still can! He’s in Ireland for the next three days and you can book an appointment with him in Brown Thomas for €20, which is redeemable against products. Check out the dates and times below:

Limerick 7th March: 10.30am- 12.30pm, 2pm-4pm
Dublin 8th March: 11am-1pm, 2pm-4pm, 4pm-6pm
